A lovely place. Obviously well looked after.  It was a pleasure to be your guest.  Will certainly tell friends.  If my wife and I are looking for a place to stay in the area in the future – your number is the first we’ll look up!!

You were the light at the end of our day!  Our only regret is that we did not plan to stay longer

Many thanks for your excellent hospitality.  This is certainly one of the best B&B’s I’ve stayed in and I’ll wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who asks me about staying in Wales.

Dearest Shirley,

I would just like to say thank you for having such a wonderful B&B on such a dreary day.  I was caught in a storm, rained upon, cold, and wet; your home was a joy to stay in on that night.  Breakfast on Monday morning was excellent as well.  You are a brilliant hostess and it is all too easy to see why you've gotten such great reviews from people all over the globe.  Thank you for running such a fine home and for being so kind and welcoming.  I hope that I'll be able to come back in September on my way through to the Brecon Beacons with a friend later this year.  You will be highly recommended to anyone I know planning a trip to Wales.

Most sincerely,

A lovely and well kept bed and breakfast. Shirley the landlady was very accommodating, they had room for us to store our bikes securely and to park our car. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, we all slept incredibly well. Breakfast was brilliantly prepared to order and at the time that suited us. Llanwrtyd Wells is a situated in a fantastic part of Wales and staying at Plasnewydd made it all the better. Highly recommended to all.

It was a lovely place to stay with a friendly atmosphere and very clean accommodation. It was near enough to walk into the facilities of the town but far enough away to make it quiet. It was central to places to visit and had car parking facilities. I would definitely go again.

This little B&B was immaculate throughout. The place was spotless. My son and I only stayed the one night but were made to feel very welcome. Shirley cooked a lovely breakfast with everything you could wish for. It was a real pleasure to stay there.

Before going I checked previous reviews for this lovely little Bed and Breakfast which brought back 39 5 star results out of 40 reviews. (Even the 40th which gave it 4 stars didn't have anything unpleasant to say) Wow they weren't wrong. We only stayed for one night but felt so welcome by Shirley. Her house is immaculate and she cannot do enough to help you. Thanks again Shirley. The area is so lovely too, we wished we had booked in longer. Just be careful. The address isn't quite where it's shown on Google Earth as of 20/2/09. It's on the wrong street.

We had never visited this part of Wales before and came across this place completely by accident. We were pleasantly surprised. Shirley was a very welcoming and helpful hostess and made us feel right at home. A comfortable room, delicious breakfast and fantastic location for walking and exploring Mid Wales. There is so much going on in this 'smallest town' in Britain, through the year, we will definitely be back.

What a great weekend at the Plasnewydd B&B. We were here for the Real Ale Wobble in November. We have been coming for the last 7 years to the Plasnewydd so its long due to compliment Shirley on her great hospitality. From arrival, we get shown to our rooms, we leave our orders for breakfast - always a good full English with juice and toast etc ready to tackle the days biking. We arrive back and put the bikes away, a hot shower or bath, then relax in the lounge with a cup of tea and biscuits. The Plasnewydd is only a minute walk from the town, so we go in for food and beers. Shirley goes out of her way to make sure we have the perfect weekend in Plasnewydd and we always do.

Plasnewydd Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay, and is highly recommended. When we arrived, Shirley made sure we were all settled into our room and provided us with a morning breakfast menu. The selection for breakfast was excellent, and each of our breakfasts were tailor made to our requests. It was delicious! The room was beautiful and comfortable. There was every amenity available and we were quite at home. The tea with welsh cakes, travelers guides, and good recommendations for things to do and places to eat were tremendously helpful. There was absolutely not one single thing missing or unpleasant about our stay. We plan to return again for another mini-break soon.

Most pleasant and comfortable.  Exceeds the description on the web site.  Will certainly tell friends and call again when in the area.  Such a very warm welcome.

Plasnewydd Bed and Breakfast is a bonza place to stay.  Your Tucker was fair dinkum.  You’re an okay sheila, Shirley.  Seriously though Shirley, thank you so much for accommodating our requests, the early breakfasts and much needed and appreciated afternoon coffee!!  An excellent service you do provide at your accommodation.

I stayed at Plasnewydd Bed and Breakfast for 3 days and I can honestly say you are made to feel very welcome. The breakfasts are amazing and the rooms are very comfortable, clean and cosy. Shirley and Norman are the best hosts I have ever stayed with and I have travelled a considerable amount. They are extremely helpful and friendly and will assist you in whatever way they can. I can truly say I will stay with them whenever I visit Wales and would highly recommend their B&B to everyone.

I and several friends have stayed at Plasnewydd on numerous occasions whilst indulging in sports and cultural weekends in Llanwrtyd. The accommodation is very comfortable, good value, the location is spot on and Mrs Allen is very friendly and helpful and certainly makes us feel extremely welcome. The breakfasts are great. Overall excellent rating from all of us hence our repeat business extending back some 10 years.
Matthew Dare, Oswestry.

Loved the friendliness and warmth of the B&B, the room was excellent and beautifully decorated, bathroom facilities with shower was excellent, plenty hot water. Breakfast was first class, choices was numerous and freshly cooked. Loved our chatty host, Shirley was very welcoming. As I am a keen gardener myself her garden was beautiful, gave me some tips for mine, pity I did not see it when in full bloom. The village itself was very friendly and met some of the locals.

My husband first stayed at Plasnewydd Bed & Breakfast in March whilst on a cycling weekend with his friends. All five of them had a wonderful time and came back raving about the cycling, the scenary and Shirley's B&B. On this basis we returned in July to be very warmly welcomed by Shirley and Norman, which was wonderful as we'd had a long drive and arrived quite late in the evening. Our room was extremley comfortable and clean and the breakfast laid on by Shirley was fantastic. Shirley has managed the near impossible for a B&B, which is that you really do feel at home - especially when enjoying the cosy guest lounge. Nothing is too much trouble. Shirley has lots of useful tips and pointers about where to go and what to see locally, which is lovely and adds that extra personal touch to your stay, This really is a beautiful part of the country and one that all should experience. Get your hiking boots, bikes, bog snorkel and pony ride bookings sorted and go and experience the great outdoors!

Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys! This is one of the most beautiful places to stay and visit in Wales. Clean Fresh Air, Incredible scenery & Mountains, Natural Sulphur Wells and wonderfully friendly people. This place has the title for being the smallest town in Britain too. I had stayed here as a child many years ago and was not disappointed at all when I recently returned years later with my own Son. We stayed in a B & B called "Plasnewydd" and the owners Norman & Shirley provided us with fantastic accommodation and excellent home cooking including home made Welsh Cakes and Bara Brith which were heavenly. They were so very friendly and made us feel completely welcome. They also both had a vast knowledge about the area. Staying there was so relaxing and peaceful. One of the best nights sleep I have had in ages. We had a wonderful time trekking on horses up on the mountains. Our guides and horses were from Ffos Farm Trekking Stables which is only 5 minutes walk from centre of the Village of Llanwrtyd Wells. What an incredible experience for my son and I, just the two of us and two guides taking us. You can’t experience it any other way. The local pubs were also very welcoming and friendly. They all had great atmosphere, were child friendly and served great food. You have just got to give this place a try!

Dear Mrs Allen, Thanks so much for the wonderful accommodation at your Bed and Breakfast during our mountain biking weekend. Although we put quite a burden on you with our muddy clothes, hungry riders and van sleepers, you didn’t seem to mind a bit, and even stayed smiling throughout. What a joy to find such a helpful proprietress when travelling by bicycle. Your home is beautiful, and you completed the charming environment with your personality and excellent breakfasts. I’ll be sure to send some more American travelers your way. THANKS AGAIN!
